Gravide blir anbefalt å vaksinera seg mot kikhoste i svangerskapsveke 24. Grunnen til det er at då er bornet vaksinert frå det blir fødd til det får eiga vaksine mot kikhoste ved 3-månadersalderen.
I Lærdal er det jordmor som i hovudsak set vaksina på svangerskapskontrollen i svangerskapsveke 24. Har ein kome lenger i svangerskapet kan ein også ta vaksina.

Both in Europe and Norway there is a sharp increase in cases of whooping cough - we have to go back to 2012 to find the last time there were as many cases of the infectious disease here in Norway as there were now in April 2024.
Pregnant women are recommended to vaccinate against whooping cough in the 24th week of pregnancy. The reason for this is that the child is then vaccinated from the time it is born until it receives its own vaccine against whooping cough at 3 months of age.
